Emtek Mortise Entry Handleset
Mortise handlesets versus your standard tubular handlesets provide better security but installation is not customer friendly and we recommend professional installation by a license contractor or locksmith.
For installation template click here: (use template mail to you earlier)
We are not trying to frighten you from purchasing a mortise lockset but rather you understand this is not your standard slam it together and tighten down a few screws installation. The door preparation is not your standard 2 bore hole set up you will find at most lumber yards or do it yourself centers. So if you are replacing an existing hardware or your door is predrilled with two bore holes this mortise lockset will NOT work.
Ordering your Mortise Handleset:
When ordering your mortise lockset we need more information than normal. You will need to know the following requirements and measurements before placing your order, to ensure your lockset arrives correctly for your specific door needs. For new construction or replacement of your front door, we suggest to consult with your contractor before purchasing your mortise handleset.
1) Handing: All mortise sets requires handing regardless of your interior selection.
2) Door Swing: The auxiliary latch for the lock body is set up for the swing of your door. Choosing the correct swing is important as the auxiliary latch will not allow the door to close if the wrong door swing is selected.
3) Backset: If replacing an existing mortise set be sure to chose the correct backset (2-1/2" or 2-3/4") to match your current setup. If your doors has NOT been cut-out and drilled the backset depends on the width of your door style, the most common is 2 1/2". The cut-out depth for a 2-1/2" backset is 3-1/4" and the cut-out depth for a 2-3/4" backset is 3-1/2"
4) Door Thickness: Door thickness is important, Emtek's mortise sets are design to fit a door range from 1-3/4" to 2-3/4" thick, so please measure and choose your correct door thickness.
